Description:-

Project Tools Out of the Box” is an easy-to-use, creative electronics teaching & learning programme, for all D and T teachers and learners. Its 3 packages combine Project Tools software modules and SmartStart hardware to deliver the current National Curriculum in Systems and Control Electronics and beyond. Its integrated approach allows more open-ended, less-prescribed projects to be easily resourced and managed. The module packages (including software) may be purchased as required:- either individually, or as a complete set (all c/w getting started guides).

Package 1- "Starter/Demonstrator"

Box 1: The Starter/Demonstrator, introduces the systems approach to electronics via four ready-to-use, hands-on, focused tasks.
Using commonly used components; Input, process and output subsystems are quickly built and demonstrated with the "Acorn Tasks" and SmartStart hardware.
Laminated photocopiable teaching resources and subsystem "designer" cards are supplied to reinforce teaching & learning.
The "Acorn Tasks" software also provides learners with an LED resistor calculator and interractive tools introducing basic components and the multimeter as a tool for measuring current, voltage and resistance.

Package 2 - "Modeller/Investigator"

This hands-on pack allows paired-learners to model and experience a range of pre-designed electronic systems using the Acorn Task guides & SmartStart modelling kits (for class size of 20).

To extend knowledge and understanding of electronic circuits and control further, the Project Tools’ interactive software module “Circuits and Components” introduces and assesses essential skills and knowledge that can be used later to support designing, making and troubleshooting activities.

The tutorials, wherever possible, present the underlying theory through examples of everyday products. By using this broader context, we can show the relevance and prevalence of electronic technology in our lives today. Laminated photocopiable teaching resources are provided.

Package 3 - "Creator/Developer"

Building on the skills and knowledge gained from “Out-of-the-Box” No 1 & 2, Project Tools “Out-of the-Box” No. 3 now supports & motivates learners to
continue developing their Design and Technology capability and become more autonomous and creative in their working. The Acorn tasks and original student led projects can be expanded with Project Tool’s additional software module – “Systems and Components”. Its features allow 1000 Control systems to be designed, modelled and made with the SmartStart modelling kits & single generic FastTrack PCB’s. "Developer" packs supply all the components required to make these circuits and a full list of component order codes is supplied for technicians to setup class packs.
Laminated photocopiable teaching resources are also supplied.
